system cant boot??

my machine is perfectly working with xp intalled. but i want to upgrade my HD (adding one more to make a total of 2 hd.) and memory (innitially i have two 64mb ram card installed want to remove one to add one of 128mb) after fixing up these new wares, immediately i switched on the system i began to hear a beep sound, no light on the monitor, and the machine is not just booting up. the wires by the way were well connected. when i switch off and re-switch back again its just giving the same result. any help please?

Put the old memory back and see what happens, you may have incompatible or bad memory stick. DELL's can be picky about Memory see the following site for advice on compatable memory:
