Comment:

I just recently bought a new Syntax SV400 motherboard, revision 1.0. However, after installing all the hard ware, it does not boot nor post.

Figuring it might be the case or some other card, I took it out, and laid it out with the power supply at my workstation (pool table). I limited it to just the basics:
CPU, fan, and heatsink
256MB stick of DDR PC2700 (only one I have)
64MB GeForce 4 MX-420 Video card
and the pc speaker (for any beeps).

I power it up (short the leads with a screwdriver) and the fans (Video card and CPU fan) both start up. But, the motherboard will not post.

It sits there, no signal to the monitor, although the fans are running. There are no beeps what so ever - Even if I bare the board down to nothing, there is no beeps at all.

I know it isn't the power supply. I switched it out with another one, and the same symptoms prevailed.

I'd be much happier if the board would beep error messages at me. At least I could diagnose the problem.

The worst part is that this board is not even a day old yet. I bought it online Monday night, with the RAM (never had DDR before) and it got here today.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I. Nelson

This probably won't help as I imagine you have already checked, but check the cmos jumper settings. I got to messing around wit a new Abit board I bought and got the same problem. A friend I trusted knew what he was talking about said power supply. After 2 diffent new ones I found while plugging in a fan I had pulled the cmos jumper loose.
