Switching HD's and installing o/s

Im running windows 2000 only, i want to know if i can switch my hard drive with a blank one and install winxp on it, and be able to switch back to my old HD and have win2000 work normally. Im sure you can, i just want a 2nd person to say, just in case ;)

Sure can do it that way but why not add the new harddrive as a slave and just instal XP to that. It will create a dualboot system that will give you a choice at startup of which XP you wish to use. That way there's no need to go shifting hardware around every time you want to switch systems.

Install the new drive as a slave and do the XP install to it. The setup should give you a selection menu to start the version of Windows you want. Good luck

I've always wanted to duel boot, so if i just install it and install xp it'll set up the boot selection? I have a operating system selection but i only have 2000 on here.
