Specs: Windows XP, 512 Ram
Hi all -- Over the past few days the following message has been popping up on my screen:

"The instrument at 0x7c901c78 referred memory at 0x71ab4a07. The memory could not be written. Click on OK to terminate the program."

Can someone please tell me what this message means and how I can resolve the issue?

Many thanks

Have you recently installed any new hardware or software?

Did this message appear after installing those programs?

I am not sure what to make of the message. Could be something is attempting to access protected memory, or could be some sections of your memory are defective.

First thing to try is to run a memory test utility. Link to one below.

Hi -- No, it was appearing before I installed those programs.

I'm not especially tech savvy, so can you tell me which one of these memtest links I need to use to download and run the program:

# Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.gz)
# Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip)

# Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable Binary (.gz)
# Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable Binary (.zip)

Pre compiled bootable iso (.Zip) extract and use power iso, gburner, imgburn etc. to burn the file into cd, dvd. Then boot from cd drive to start memory test.

Or you could try this one first. It may be the easiest for you to use.

Auto-installer for USB key. That is if you have a flash drive (USB key) available.
