i was playing battlefield 1942 when i blue screen apeared and said somthing about a STOP error. I have had this error many times and it says it is because diffrent drivers each time. NV_DISP.sys and somthing about memory dump are the most common. I have all the latest drivers for everything and it still happens.
Please can you tell me how to fix the problem or at least stop the blue screen coming up, making me restart my computer!

I won't give you a direct solution but a workaround and one other way to look at it.When I have a game that doesn't play on Windows XP,I reboot to Windows ME and most of the times it will play right away after a setup on this system. You need to install Windows 9X or ME first(choose the one you have) on C drive and Windows XP on D drive next.XP takes care of the dual booting by itself:you don't have to be an expert to do it.
On the other hand some games need DirectX and OpenGl before they can be started. This has nothing to do with the operating system. If your game needs both, you have to find an OpenGl supplier.Scitech software is one.

With the fast evolution of games, hardware and operating system sofware, it is not easy these days to track down problems like the one you report.Unfortunately there may be other solutions or ways to look at it.Good luck.

It's not XP,
It's that motherboard (VIA chipset) running a Nvidia graphics card. This issue is reported in greater and lesser degrees to the majority of SIS and VIA chipset owners.
There is no fix, sans buying a Radeon (ATI) graphics card.

You could try using an older version of detonator drivers. In one of my pc's I had an older tnt2 card and had to back up to version 30.82 before the system was stable. Most problems seem to be with the VIA KT133a chipset & Nvidia cards. Good luck.

Just saw you only have a 250W psu. That maybe enough but it's quite low for that system.
A unstable power supply can cause all sorts of problems. Normally your system may freeze or reboot but if there's only a very little power missing at high system loads (happens especially with games!) things like you described can also happen.
Especially with another driver not working everytime I doubt it's really a driver problem.Another possibillity maybe a heatproblem with your cpu!
Have you also updated the VIA 4in1 driver for your chipset???
