My Compaq Presario 700 laptop has [I think] a sticking key. My warranty is up and I am poor: Can I do this myself [I have good manual dexterity] or do I need assistance from a techie? If I open my laptop and get [carefully, of course] to the keyboard, will I see anything out of place? It's the "v" key . . . This is driving me crazy*!?! Thanks in advance for your kind help!!!!!

Laptop keyboards are small and not user friendly. Are you actually using the laptop as a "lap top", or could you just grab a standard keyboard and plug it in in the back?
If you really want to open it up, check this first: can you pop keys off the keyboard without opening the case? If so, pop the 'v' off, clean the gunk out, and put it back on.
Opening up a laptop case should only be your last resort.
