The last post in the below thread has a pic of a stereo amplifier that fits into your case's 5.25" bay. Anyone know where you can buy something like this?

Hey you found it, thanks. But I cannot find any reference to the product doc or whether or not it will drive a couple of large passive speakers. Hm-m-m.

Now this idea is nearly as good as beer...all for 28 bucks. I'm thinkin' it's time to find out what it'll do.

I suspect that there is a big disappointment in store for someone. Speakers and an amp for $28. :-(

I have to go with Ken on this one. I would not expect too much for $28.00. If anyone tries it, let us know how it is.

"bay amp".

Amps produce a TON of heat.

So does my Athlon CPU.....

1+1=?

Not trying to sound too smart but, go figure why no-one else has come up with this "brainwave".

Maybe useful if you wish to warm up your pizza on the top of your case!

"Amps produce a TON of heat."

An xp produces 50W of heat, a 7200rpm hard drive 10W. An amp wastes about half its wattage rating on heat. So a 40W amp would produce 20W of heat, about like two extra hard drives. Definitely a consideration, but not prohibitive.
