hi i have bought a brand new motherboard and intalled it , i didnt take much notice of the instructions which said something about static affecting the motherboard .

how fragile is the motherboard and how much damage does static cause.

im asking this because i am about to invest alot of money into CPUS RAM etc. i dont want to start it up and it all blows up ?

Static discharge is a computer's worse enemy. You should always use a static wristband or touch the computer's chasis before doing anything inside of it. Considering you haven't powered it up yet you should be good to go. But take precautions when you start putting it all together. Like work on the mobo on a foam surface such as that which came with the mobo. Don't put it together sitting in a chair on carpet. Use common sense.
