staples relay USB Flash Drive not recognized issues

Specs: Windows 7
Laptop doesn't recognize usb key?
I plug in my staples relay usb key and it has password protection. when i try to access the file to insert the password i get a message which says no device detected please make sure device is plugged in. meanwhile i am able to open and see whats on the device but because of the password protection i cannot access some of the files. the characters of said files are garbled characters because they are encrypted. yes i checked for updated drivers yes i scanned the usb key. please assist.

Try another machine. If it fails there also, you have a faulty device. As you state, encryption will keep you from obtaining the file contents.
As we always suggest, can you restore from a backup?

The question is not "IF" a device will fail, it is "WHEN" it will fail.

Even knowing the password, the encrytpion method will keep a hacker busy for a long time trying to restore the file. If you know the method used and possibly the second (hardware) key, you have a very good chance of restoring the file.
