Squeaking Fan Noise

I got a one of those big zalman copper fin fans a year ago and I'm curious if there is any way to lubricate it. It spins at the same speed when i got it but it makes a small squeaking noise. You really don't notice it till you tune in to it, but once I start to hear it. It nags me like crazy.

Make sure that the fan blades are not being touched by a wire or a cable tie that can cause some noise. It is not worth it to try to lubricate this fan. The lubricant will be dispersed throughout the inside of the computer. If the noise is from a bearing, the damage is already done and the bearing will fail in time.

Yes, lubing the fan 'might' fix the problem for a short time (at best). Fans are cheap, replace it with a 'ball bearing' fan, they last a lot longer.

If it is not the bearings, is there a possibility the fan is not mounted correctly?

I would have thought the fixings should be tight (but not over-tight) onto rubber mountings.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.
