I am looking at AMD processor and it says "Athlon XP 1700+ 1.47Ghz" what does the 1.47GHz at the end mean?, I fault that it runs at 1.7GHz.

A 1700+ operates at 1.47 GHz. This is AMD's naming procedure. AMD's do more more per clock cycle than Intel, so a lower frequency cpu can out preform a higher one (P4). Don't let the 1.47 GHz fool you, that chip kicks the crap out of the 1.7 GHz P4. I would recommend doing some research on the differences between AMD and INtel, this will help you better understand.

In addition, most 1700+ cpus right now are the same chips that amd labels as 2100+s and 2400+s, they just set them at a lower voltage and clock them at 1.47g to address the lower end segment. So if you get a motherboard that doesn't overclock you are throwing away a free upgrade.
Summary: CD-ROM and DVD-ROM speeds are rate differently. It works out that a DVD speeds are about 9 times CD ones. For example a 2x DVD speed is about equal to 18x CD speed. Of course this all a theroretical m...
