I am just wondering is there any way of tweaking USB 1.1 to speed up its transfer rate?

I doubt that's possible. BUt I have seen USB boards that run at the new, higher speed. They are a PCI board and aren't too expensive, plus they give you 4 or 5 more ports. I hope this helps.

I am sorry, let me correct my self. I am wondering whether I can speed up the transfer rate of my USB 1.1 devices. I have a USB 2.0 card. The reason I want to know is I am using a SONY Camcorder and the camcorder have built in USB 1.1 not 2.0 interface. The quality of it is very bad, plus frame skipping also, a lot of frame skipping. I don't want to speen $400 getting an AV card just do transfer the video. Any help would appreciate, thankz.

$400 seems a bit steep. I have seen Pinnacle Studio AV ver. 8 (with PCI card) at Circuit City for as little as US $50 (after rebate). It works very well, and with your setup, you would have very few dropped frames. HTH

Maybe the camcorder has a Firewire connection, in which case you could install a Firewire card, as this is faster than USB 1.1.

Nope, this camcorder doesn't not have a Firewire connection, it is the downside of it. It has USB Stream out and AV-out only. So there is no way of tweaking the device to speed up its transfer rate huh.... thank you for responding.

Quite correct USB has three transfer speeds depending on hardware and it is set at the factory, then you are stuck and even installing an USB2.0 adapter the device will only transfer at the speed it was designed for....
