OK-

Gonna sound dense but I need to know:

possible to hook up two sets of speakers, each has it's own sub/amp (2.1), to one PC & end up w/4/1? or the equivalent?

You could use a Y splitter. See below for an example. You can get one cheap at radio shack.

Hi,
I have 2 sets of speakers on my Pc by using a double adapter, it only cost $3 at tandy eletronics. (Australian dollars)
It sounds Ok but it isnt really surround sound, it just adds to the volume and bass a little. But it still sounds good even with my original sound card that came in my Hp 6616 Pavilion. If the main reason for having 2 sets of speakers on your computer is for surround sound just buy a set of 5.1 speakers, they dont come real cheap but I wish I had some.

Ummm... I just wanted to add that your sound card has to produce surround sound in order to get surround sound. If you just have a regular stereo sound card and you split the signal to two sets of speakers then you just get two lefts and two rights. But a true surround sound sound card (say that 5 times fast) will have multiple plugs in the back. One for front speakers, one for back speakers, one for sub, etc. In that case, you could plug one set of 2.1 speakers up for the front, and the other set for the back and you really would have surround sound. Just buying a set of powered 5.1 speakers doesn't magically provide you with surround sound. Some do have surround sound decoders built in, but most just have the multiple plugs designed to plug into the surround sound sound card (5 times fast).
