Speakers don't work after docking

Lacie / Speakers - usb

Specs: Windows XP
I’ve just bought some USB LaCie speakers, to plug into my laptop’s docking station. They work fine when I power-up my laptop and use them, but if I undock my laptop and then redock it – they won’t work at all. If I play music it just plays through the laptop speakers. The speakers are getting power, but I can’t find a way to ‘divert’ the sound to them.

I’ve checked the device manager, control panel settings etc etc & everything seems fine.

Laptop: 4 month old Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo M9410
Speakers: LaCie USB Speakers

Any suggestions?

Did you update your Hardware Profiles for Docked & Undocked?

Right Click My computer, click properties, click on the Hardware Tab, click HardWare Profiles Tab.

I don't recall how to do this . I believe you click on Copy with the Laptop Docked, then Undock it and click Copy. It's supposed to save the current Hardware settings?????

Make sure the Speakers are working before you Copy the Docked Profile. How? I don't know. Try connecting the Speaker after the Laptop is Docked.

Maybe your Users manual will help. My Toshiba gives me no clue how to use this feature.

There is nothing to learn from someone who already agrees with you.
