You really dont need a southbridge cooler, thats why they dont come with one.

Hightech Excalibur Radeon 9800 Pro Iceq 128mb

Dual 40gig WD.

well, i read from somewhere that southbridge could gets really hot and also one of the cause for jerky sound. though i don't have the problem now, but who knows?
also, its recommend to add a heatsink if one wants to overclock.

If you want to overclock it add a heat sink! if it's still to hot add a fan on the sink.
GooD LucK!It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice...

hey guys,
thanks for the responses. i've decided to add a little heatsink which i manage to get it out from one of my old video card. the reason is simple - i tried gaming for 30mins and it's just get TOO HOT.
i just found one of the site which does the recommendation, click on "soundstorm audio".

thank you all for the input.

may I ask how you know it gets too hot?

"i touch it with my finger when pc is running"
very scientific...lol. So how hot does it get? If you can place your finger on it & hold it there without the least bit of discomfort, it's warm, not hot...& warm is not a problem.
I'm still with Lantz on this one:

well, jam. i've always respect your opinion. but just on this, i still stick to my decision. i still remember years back when i had a cyrix processor on a via chipset board which used to freeze or crash till one day i discover that placing a heatsink on one of the motherboard chip help solved the problem.
i know i might be paranoid, but i see no harm doing. especially, when it doesn't cost me anything getting the heatsink from an old card.

If you really insist on going the heatsink/fan route and use a used heatsink, clean the heatsink off first. The old grease or tape needs to be removed and new applied. The best I have found to clean the old gunk off is alcohol. RUB do not scrape. Elbow grease and a wash rag works wonders.
I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid...
