Hi,
I have a DELL 8200 with an Analog Devices AD1885 AC97 Codec, can I achieve 6 channel sound with this, without purchasing any hardware? I've heard many integrated sound devices are cabable of switching the mic and line in to additional speaker outs (rear and center/sub).

Soundmax audio? sounds like a no name brand. O well i think you should be able to if you have a console on your desktop that can control your integrated audio. Make sure you have 3 ports on the back. Other than that, buy a 2 or 3 way splitter. OR buy a sound card for 20 bucks on newegg.com. a splitter wont give you the best quality of sound. if you want 3D sound.. then again you dont want hardware so forget that stuff.=P
