Comment: I just bought an audigy 2 soundcard for my new compaq 6312 athlon 2000+ computer. The audigy instructions state that you must remove the old soundcard and its software. It doesnt have a soundcard just a small metal box that has plugins for the speaker and mic. Am I supposed to remove that box? It doesnt look like it comes out and I dont want to ruin my computer. Any advice and help for me? Ps The preinstalled sound is soundmax 3.0 digital integrated audio. Thanks Phil

Reply: (edit)Sounds like your old soundcard (and yes you have one) is on-board. Check your BIOS and mobo manuals to see how to disable it. on a side note: If you have the connectors on your system and they work, you MUST have the respective card

Reply: (edit)You haev ON BOARD Sound, it looks like, so go into the BIOS or set the JUMPERS to DISBALE. Look around in your BIOS for a title like ON BOARD SOUND, PC SOUND, etc and then DISABLE from there and then SAVING CHANGES AND EXITING. REBOOT.
