this is not something really big, but i hope you can help.

when i played sound files in my former PC, it only played from 1 source, for example im playing an mp3 file in winamp, i wont hear any desktop sounds(error, new mail sounds, etc.)

i recently bought a new PC, unfortunately it didnt have the same settings as the 1 i used to have. does it have anything to do with the motherboard or just plain Windows settings?

thanks in advance!!!

That was a windows setting. click on the speaker in the system tray and mute the .wav channel. that corresponds to the windows system sounds.

tried it when i was playing mp3 on winamp.
it also muted the mp3. so i didnt get any sound from any source at all.

1 more thing i noticed, before, i can use the windows sound recorder program to record sounds playing from my desktop w/o any mic. it copies the sound playing directly. now, it won't.
