This is driving me NUTZ!
My Abit NF7-S v2.0 MB plays mp3's great through my creative inspire 4.1 speakers. When I load up any game or the TV I only get the front speakers??! and it stays that way until I reset it.
I have this problem with the Soundstorm and also with an Audigy2 after disabling the Soundstorm.
I can go back into the speaker setup and change it back to 4 speakers and it will revert back to 2 speakers everytime I play a game or TV.
Is this a board problem?...... Windows XP problem?......Speaker problem? has anyone else ever experienced this?
Is there a solution?

im exp similar probs with winxp prof sp1 and my audigy. try playing an audixy demo for 5.1 surround sound. i get the bsod when i try that and i have the same speakers u do.
ill let ya know if i get anywhere.
