Sound problems

Hi, I've just replaced my existing motherboard and cpu for a Matsonic MS8137C+ motherboard and an AMD Athlon 2800XP cpu. Everything is fine apart from two things.
Firstly, there is know sound, from system or cd-rom drive. I have done everything the help program says but still know sound. (It is an on board sound card)
Secondly, the computer won't turn off!! When powering down normaly it does everything thing that is should do to begin with and at the point you expect it to switch off it restarts. It acts like a restart rather than a power down. (It has powered down successfully once)
Any ideas on a solution would be much appreciated.

I think it is a "sound driver" problem, if you did't install the drivers by your own; thats probrably the problem. and the power issue, maybe going to the winxp "control panel" and config. by your self the power savings options.

How about your speaker sound cable - is it plugged into the proper sound port on your PC? Also, is there an indicator light to show that your speakers are actually getting power?
