Sound on old Toshiba Satellite ?

This is probably a daft question but... I have an old Toshiba Satellite 110CT which has a system speaker which beeps but the laptop doesnt seem to be able to make any other sounds. When you go into "Sounds" in Control Panel, the preview options are "greyed out". Has the sound been disabled or is the laptop incapable of producing anything other than a beep ?

of course ur sound card driver is ok..? maybe u've got to reinstall specific driver which is on the restore cd . I've a toshiba laptop (4280) and a restore cd. If u want to try the sound driver i've got, send a mail..

My wife has a 110ct, same problem as you, was bought second hand and was told it had sound. Never heard anything from it though. Toshiba onilne support is not much help(all files for download I find seem to be in german). One day I might open it up and look for a sound chip.

toshiba laptops have a special way of config : it's call ds-xg launcher. When i got mine (2nd hand too) it'd been reformated and and i din't play good sounds either(scratching...). I've restored the whole drivers and it works perfect. Seems sound drivers on my restore cd are generic ones. If ur interested, for free of course, send a mail !
