When you plug in your headphones, you normally wouldn't want the speakers to be putting out audio, so the signal is prevented from going to them.|
The switch that opens up the circuit to the speakers is prone to failure. If it breaks and stays open, you can get headphone audio but no audio from the speakers.
If that's the problem, it will require replacing the headphone jack.
