AD 1812 audio codec is listed in system as working properly but in multimedia it is not listed. In multimedia if I click on devices and then on my sound card it says the driver is enabled but inactive due to unknown problem???

this is what you should do download the burn in test
http://www.zdnet.com/downloads/stories/info/0,10615,35399,00.html
then choose the sound card test there, it will tell you what is wrong and why your IRQ is incorrect or being use in another area like the modem etc. it will also give you a tip on how to correct that problem .
