I recently bought a new computer (albiet not the most up to date) and I put all my OLD games on it (starcraft, diablo two, etc). A few days ago I decided to get some new ones, so I got F.E.A.R. 2 and Prototype. I tried playing them but there was no sound, with Fear i got an error message "Sound Acceleration Error" but continued to play without sound. Music works as well as other games. What Is going on? Instead of the little sound icon on the bottom right corner I have "Realtek HD Audio Manager" and if I right click it I get a list of common Volume and Media programs (Like the Original Volume Control Thing)

P.S. I like telling every bit that I know when I write these XD.

Do the new games require 3-D sound cards? Have you updated the Realtek drivers? To see what kind of sound that is in the machine 1.start 3.DXDIAG check the system requirements for the new games against your machine
