I have recently had my PC fixed due to spyware, plus i had a new hard drive installed. However, since i've had it back, i have been unable to play audio as well as Windows sounds. In my device manager and control panel, it says 'no device'. Has my device broken? I looked inside the PC - it is a small metal box connected to the speaker/mic jacks and also connected to a circuit board.

Can anyone help???
Thanks

the sound device needs a driver to operate. If the repair shop didn't install it I suggest you either bring it back to them or locate it yourself to download and install. First try windows update and use the custom install. When it's done scanning it will notify you if there are driver updates. If so, install all of them. If you do not get one for sound, then go to your computer manufacturer's website and look up your particular computer model number and download the sound drivers. The manufacturer's website will have all the drivers needed for your computer.
