Sound card won't work after wake-up

this happens very frequently, when my laptop wakes up from standby the sound doesn't work. what i mean is that there is no physical sound coming from the speakers - although everything looks OK in the windows.
this problem also happens after hibernation wakeup, and i don't know what to do about it.
i'm using a laptop with a Conexant sound card (i guess it's a modem/sound combo) but i'm not using the original drivers but rather using the realtek driver - since the Conexant driver
1) had bad sound (which doesn't happen with the realtek one) 2) isn't supported by windows X64 - which i had planned on installing (although it never really came to be)

Install the correct drivers for the card. Download the newest one for it. X64 isn't for your laptop anyway. Unless it is a 64 bit Machine. Then there really isn't any software for that either.
