Hello,
I'm having a bit of trouble with my sound card. It's an integrated card and the control panel is called "SoundMAX".
So far, what is happening and what I've done:
- Rear connection, output only from left speaker. Nothing at all from the right.
- Tried connecting to CD player. Both speakers work fine.
- Tried connecting speakers to front panel connector. Output from both speakers.
- Tried connecting headphones, which I know work fine, to rear connector. Again, audio is coming only from left side. Again, works normally with front.
- Most of these I've tried multiple times, and they've always been unconditional.I've pretty much ruled out the possibility of loose/broken connections/wires in the speakers themselves. The results of all my tests so far leads me to believe it's the physical connector or the motherboard that is the problem.
This has only begun recently, in the last two days. Last time, reconnecting my speakers had worked. My computer is around three years old, and the motherboard is nigh one year old.
Any ideas as to the cause and possible solution? Should I just go and buy a PCI sound card instead?
Thanks,--Laogeodritt

Go to above site and get Everest free edition.
It will inform you what sound card or onboard sound you have.

Sounds like the rear speaker connector isn't making good contact to me. A new sound card should fix the problem.
Sorry, I do not check for private messages

Motherboard: Asus P4P800 SE
Sound: Intel 82801EB ICH5 - AC'97 Audio Controller [A-2/A-3]Slight update: It appeared to have randomly decided to work again. Then, a few hours later, the right speaker goes out again. If I hold the right speaker to my ear, I hear some faint white noise.
