There is no universal driver. You will have to determine the make and model of your card. Take it out and inspect it for a manufacturer and model. If this is unsuccessful, try and find the fcc# and run a trace on it at http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid/
Then do a search for the driver.

There should be a label on the card itself giving a brand and model reference? Would also help if we know whether it's an ISA (very long slot) or a PCI (shorter slot) it fits into on the main board?

This said, for about 25.00 you could replace it, with a Creative Soundblaster PCI 128, a nice bit of kit for oldies like the P1.

Since it's a 386 system, it will be an ISA card. Hard to find these days, I'm afraid. Run AIDA32 and it should tell you all there is to know about the sound board ( and everything else). Look at the chips on the board. Look for things like Opti. Good suggestion above to check for the FCC numbers. That will give you the manufacturer and possible contact/website, etc. Good luck. :)

PC Bob, his first line said he asking about a Pentium 1, so it may have both slots. You are correct his original card would be ISA, but the one I recommend can still be found for either slot type.

all you need to do is download belarc advisor and it should tell you what sound card hardware you have on your computer then enter that info into the web and you should be able to find your drivers

the program is less than a meg... and you can get it at www.belarc.com
