I can't hear the sounds i'm supposed to on my computer. As far as i can tell, it does have a sound card but receive the error message 80040256..cannot playback audio...no sound card or not working prop. there are a group of 4 wires from the cd rom to the sound card but no ports or anything else is attatched to it. Please help me to hear properly....Also motherboard fan is not operational(ball cooler master) (big concern) also attatched with leads that seem to serve no function. Thank you for any helpful advice concerning these situations.

You give no hardware specs so I would suggest that you download a utility called AIDA32. It will tell you what hardware and operating system you are using. Once you find the brand and model of your MB go the the manufacturers website and download a copy of the manual. Get the fan working and then post back again about the sound.
