im thinking of makeing a media pc to sit under the tv in the living room so i can enjoy bbc i player and 4OD problem i quickly totted up the price of one to £270. thats the case, remote, graphics card with svideo out mem, processor, hd and a motherboard that has been sources from some where else. and thats without the operating system. i did think about a laptop from ebay thats got no screen but i need the wake up on lan feature and i thought about a old shuttle pc but both are just as expensive and crapper.

any one got ideas of how to get the price down? or how to source the bits cheaper.

could you elaborate on the tlc?

also i was thinking graphics card with a svideoout(no flat screen yet) i think and a hdmi incase i decide to get a flat screen. TV cards can that be used like a graphics card. im not too keen on getting a tv card since i live in the sticks and wont get digital till the switch over in 2010. also the power suply in thats only 200w bit low aint it?

unfortunatly i dont think you can use iplayer or 4od with linux the stupid thing is bound to m$ drm
