Sony Vaio Laptop Failure

Hi all , I have a sony vaio laptop PCG-9P6L, It was running great until once I restarted it so it came after sony logo shows "no operating system found". I tried so many things as : - checking bios battery and it was fine. - resetting all to default. - checking the hard drive for any failure, bad sector, MBR with all possible ways. - installing windows XP from a different source. - formating FAT/NTFS, re-partitioning the hard drive. - re-writing the MBR and making sure its fine.
After all , the system still hanging there. I had read a lot about this but it seems its a common unsolved problem.

Is the drive detected in the BIOS ?
Eitherway reseat the modular hard disk and try again.

The hard disk is always detected in the bios, it shows all the time , and when using any disk tool its also there, I can partition it , format it .. etc. only when booting from windows 98 boot disk (on a CD) and trying fdisk command it says : no fixed disk present.
