My dvd rw drive will not recognize dvds when inserted including blank DVDs. The system says no disc inserted, but it does recognize and will play CDs. It was working but just stopped one day out of the blue.

There are TWO LASERS in that drive. One for CDs and one for DVDs. If you have done alot of DVD burning the lense on that laser may be dirty. There are cleaning kits. Probably toast though.
