Sony VAIO doesn't recognize Recovery Disc #2

Specs: windows vista, intel/4GB
Hello,

I am working with a sony vaio vgn-ns235j.

The hdd went bad and I switched it out and I am trying to use recovery discs on it purchased through sony to put windows back on the laptop. Disc one gets to 23% then asks for disc two. When I insert disc two, it spits it back out and asks for disc 2 again.

I have looked at the contents of disc two on another machine and they seem to be good but I cant get pass 23% on the vaio due to this. Any help would be appreciated

Return to sony and get correct or replacement set.

I guess there is a slim chance the drive is bad. See if you can borrow a usb drive and try it.

i was thinking there could be something wrong with the drive but i havent thought of trying an usb drive. maybe i can find one. i was thinking i could somehow transform the recovery discs onto an external drive and make it bootable. all 3 discs are a combined 11 GB so i cannot fit them on any one thumbdrive. wonder if i could just place disc 2 on thumbdrive and run it.

MS is difficult to get to run off a usb but it may be possible. It would use it at the very last choice. I still suspect the disks.
