When I turn it on the computer all you can see is white and then the crack is visible. Does any know the LCD part number or another LCD thats compatible with this laptop?

A hitachi (my mates VAIO is a 15 inch with hitachi lcd as I dismantled it) lcd from Sony is going to cost you over $500 dollars (checked already for my friends burnt out light, they want to sell the whole screen assemnbly). Your other option is to go to ebay. You could also go to a local computer fair. Lots of good contacts can be made there.

Hey I was asking laptopsetc.com how much it would be to fix it and they said it could cost 300 or so. But I have to ship it to them and all. I have the 14.1 inch screen but its the better one, its 1600 X 1200 resolution. Do you by any chance have the part number, im trying to find the lcd so i can do it myself.

Here are some 'lease return' and 'recertified' Trinitron CRT monitors. Cheaper than fixing a used LCD, larger screen, and better picture.

21" for $209:

19" for $119:

Heck, you can buy a brand new 19" Trinitron cheaper than fixing an LCD...

I know it's not what you asked, but it's something you might consider.

Best Luck,
Bob
