my sony dvd rw dw-g120a does not recognize movie dvds.
i can play those movie dvds on other dvd players
i m able to write data dvds. i could also read a data dvd which was written by me on nero
i m using windows media player to play the dvds but the drive does not recognize the movie dvd
the strange part is it is able to read the movie dvds sometimes.. very very rarely but not always

Sony drives are particular about the brand of DVDs you use, if the movie DVDs are not originals, that might be the problem

Sony drives are particular about the brand of DVDs you use, if the movie DVDs are not originals, that might be the problem.
You might also try a firmmware upgrade, if there is one available for the drive.
