Hi I have a Sony DVD Burner.. The 500A version but im having problems with it. It came packaged with software to burn dvd's which i am using.

I have used Sonic MyDVD to create my home video DVD and have successfully burned it twice. But when i have tried to copy it from the file for the 3rd time i receive an error message in MyDVD saying: "Could not complete last command because: End of file (DVDErr, -16072).

After i have clicked ok, and re-insert the same dvd blank into the burner, it locks up the computer for some reason and the activity light flashes slowly as if it is doing something.
Here's another strange thing.. When I insert a fresh disc it does not freeze the computer.
Also i can burn and read cd's perfectly.
Go Figure! hehe

I have made three coasters with this error - there goes $18. Can somebody pleeease help!?

Can be a hardware problem but I'm not sure.

About the DVD that failed, is it possible the device already started to burn on it ???
If yes the DVD is ruined and that maybe the reason for the lockup.

Can you read normal CD-Rom and DVD-Rom or videos with the burner ???

Also try another software. As far as I know nero can also burn dvd's. You can download a trial version at www.ahead.de!

BTW:
Use a DVD-RW for further trying so you can just delete it if it doesn't work!

Yeah i can read other stuff.
I just tried it again with a re-writable dvd-rw.
Same error as before... but this time i watched the process more carefully..

What happens is after the software finishes converting the video and the audio and when it is fully prepared to burn it says writing.. then cancelling.. then ejecting..
so it is writing for about 2 seconds then cancelling.. hence the coasters

Try it with another video file. If the other video works, I would guess that the original video you are trying to burn has become corrupt and is causing an error.

If you have one of the first dvd's you burned, simply import that file and try it again.

I have had the same problems on longer video i'm capturing. I'm using the Video-ooh to capture analog from some old VCR tapes i want to digitize. 5,15 min file works fine, but if you try to burn 55 or60 mins files i get the EOF DVDerr-16072. Transfer the same file as data file and it works fine. I have a HP300 DVD+R/+RW writer in a new HP250a desktop computer. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I've had similar trouble with my Sony DRU-120a using MyDVD 3.0. On cnet.com, there is much complaining about how buggy MyDVD is.

It worked for a while, but the latest file, it just refuses.

Feels a little bit like a corrupted file. I'll try to reinstall.
