Specs: Windows XP
I have a Dell Dimension 4700 and it has a Sony CD-RW crx216e and has worked fine for 5 years. Now, it suddenly will still play CD-ROMs but will NOT play an audio CD - doesn't even recognize there is a CD in the drive if it's an audio CD. I have NOT made ANY changes recently to the computer so I don't know why this happened. I tried to find an updated driver, but it just says there are no better drivers available, and the device manager says the device is working properly. I can't find the driver listed on Sony's site or Dell's site to download. Any suggestions?!?

You don't need any drivers. More likely than not you just have auto start issues. That is something I don't ever use at all.

Try clicking on the drive icon in My Computer and see if the music files show in a directory. If so, there is nothing wrong with the drive.

While viewing the music files double click on on to see if it then plays.

What program do you use to play the music files?
