Sometimes freezes when power plugs in

Specs: Windows 7
I recently got an Asus G60JX with Windows 7 home premium 64 bit, 6gb ram, Pentium i5 M430 @ 2.27Ghz.

Everynow and then (50% chance) when I plug the power cord in the laptop freezes. Nothing on the screen moves. The only way to turn it off is the hold the power button down method.

Its a bit annoying. It hasnt caught me out in the middle of work yet... but I dont know why its happening.

Maybe its a power surge? I have replaced the US plug with a UK plug, but the wiring is correct when changing the plugs over and the transformer is a 110-240v so can cope with the UK voltage.

Sounds like the Power Management is bugged. When was the last time you ran a Windows Update? Probably should try that. I would just go in and turn the power management off.

Ok I will try. Its got its own Asus gear4power thing too which manages different 'profiles' and then within that what happens when its on charge or not...
loads of settings from timings of things right down to min and max processor useage.
Will have a look and give it a go though.
Thanks for the reply!

When you plug the power cord in the Power Management software will engage to brighten your screen and to change the time it takes for your devices to go to sleep because you are running on wall power.

Try turning the power management OFF to see if it is the problem.
