I have been having problems with my system randomly rebooting, it kept getting worse. Even to the point where my system wouldnt boot at all, so I figured i would reformat my system and do a fresh install. After I reformatted my drive I start to install win xp pro, but it locks up everytime on the initial install process. I have tried time after time to reinstall but it locks allmost instantly. Also I have tried win 98 se but it does the same thing. My pc is not overheating my bios reports a temp of 30c to 40c. I have tried swapping my ram to different slots, one stick at a time ect. I have also tried taking out my video card and using on board video, but it still locks up at the same point, I took my fan and heatsink off and checked my processor and it looked fine so i put on new thermal grease and put it back together. Still no luck. Ive tried all the bios setting I can, fail safe defaults ect, also setting them to defaults on the mobo jumpers. Anyone have any suggestions?
ive also tried a new power supply and it didnt work bout ready 2 slam pc on floor help!

Is your CPU overclocked? If so that could be the reason. Your FSB is to high. That's what happened to me when I turned up my FSB. My pc kept re-booting. You also might have driver issues.

My pc was overclocked from 1.7 to 1.9 by upping the fsp just a tad, but I tried putting it to normal and it does the same thing everytime..Also it worked fine for months overclocked. This issue just occurred from nowhere.

I notice that you moved your ramsticks to different slots - that's a good test, BTW, I had times when moving my stick to another slot solved my probs.- however, why don't you try switching out your ram with a stick you know is good for sure. What you are experiencing is very typical of bad ram. Try swapping one stick and remove your original, even if you have to borrow a buddy's stick temporarily. Bad RAM with it's random crashes can have you talking to yourself until you discover what the problem is.

Your CPU is getting too hot, check your fan. ALSO, ITS NEVER A GOOD IDEA TO OVERCLOCK, the hardware damage isn't worth the +2fps you MIGHT get.

But I would check your CPU fan. If its been off for a while, you might need to replace the CPU.

The reason it reboots is that when the CPU gets too hot, it shuts your system down so it doesn't fry out.
