Recently my sound has stopped working. I am not getting any errors, but when I play games or MP3's or movies, I can't hear any sound. But the strange thing is, I can still hear the sounds that Windows uses, like the sound when you log on or close a program. I checked the volume control and nothing is muted, and there are no hardware conflicts in device manager. I am not sure what sound card I have, but when I look in device manager it says Vinyl AC'97 and Sound Blaster Pro or Compatible.

Check in Control Panel, at sounds (or multimedia), i'm not sure how it is called coz i'm on XP, and select at playback device the sound card you want to use.
