Specs: Windows 8.1
The laptop was working normally when out of a sudden some letters are not responding. Can it be dust. Previously I tried to upgrade to Windows 10 but the programmes freezed, soI had to revert again TO Windows 8.1 again

Presumably nothing been spilt on the keyboard...?

Try a blast of compressed air (a can from a suitable store) around the offending keys; and maybe all of them?

Also if you try a usb keyboard does the problem persist (unlikely but...)?

If a USB keyboard works OK then on the faulty one try tapping the keys that are giving problems firmly a number of times. This can sometimes cure keyboard issues, at least for a while.

Mostly keyboard issues turn out to be the keyboard itself.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Hi Ed,

here in the UK, in cheapo shops such as 'The Pound Store' one can buy a usb vacuum cleaner for keyboards.

For £1 it is worth trying, as over time considerable fluff etc. can accumulate under the keys..

Good Luck - Keep us posted.
