are there any issues with solid state drives? I am considering getting an ultra book with a solid state drive and I would like to find out how sensitive they are as opposed to SATA drives

They are much more reliable than they were even a year ago, according to reports I have read. I recommend using an external hard drive to store an image of the SSD drive as well as a normal back up. The back up should be updated at least weekly, more often if the files are important to you, and the image should be remade occasionally, like whenever you make a major change, or once every two or three months or so.
SSD drives are typically SATA connected drives, you are actually comparing the SSD to a conventional hard drive.
Typically, SSD drives are much smaller than typical conventional hard drives, or at least much more expensive for similar sizes. make sure that you will have enough space for all of your storage. Some larger laptops have room for an additional drive bay so you can have both drives and get the best of both worlds (speed and storage).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
