Solid beep, no boot after failed XP

During a reinstall of Windows XP, the computer froze and started a solid beep. There was no response from the computer at all so I turned it off. Now when I turn it on, there is still the solid beep and I get no boot info on the screen (It just stays a solid color).
Any ideas will be appreciated, I have no clue where to even start.

Hi Joe, I assume (considering the subject) that your installation failed. What kind of motherboard do you have? At http://bioscentral.com/ you can check the beep codes of your motherboard. You'll need to find out what made the installation of XP fail, otherwise you can keep formatting your harddisk and try to reinstall. Did you recently removed/upgraded any hardware?

That could be your memory. Try installing other memory in your pc.

It's definitely a memory problem. Try a different memory stick. You also might try reseating the one you have, and then reseat the vidoe board, if it's not an onboard AGP. Failing this, try to break the system down to the very minimum: memory, CPU, video. That should allow you to get to the BIOS setup screen. Check there for anything odd. Once it fails, (no HD) try putting the drives back in, one by one, making sure the cables are on correctly. Let us know how this goes. HTH
