I have a new motherboard Chaintech # SNF4. The disk i got for the motherboard drivers will not open, it says Error! you Limits of Authority must be Administrator. I need help is there a way to download the motherboard driver from this disk. Thanks in advance Horst

sounds like this is your Windows blocking you as you as a USER dont have the rights to instal it.
Can you log on as administrator?
I am not that expert on how to do that but i think you can log in as administrator in Safe Mode.
safe mode: switch computer on, keep tapping f8 key until you get menu that gives option of safe mode

Hi.
Thanks for quick responce i will give it a try. I can not see to be a administrator to put drivers on to the motherboard what can you do wrong. I let you know
Thanks Horst

There should be at least one Administrators account in Windows without resorting to Safe Mode. The first account created when Windows is installed is automatically an Administrators account and Windows will not allow you to delete it. You can change it to a simple User account providing to create another Administrators account first.
Go to Admin Tools > Computer Management > User to find out who the administrators are. If Windows has been set up properly, you will need a password.
Don't get confused with the Administrator account which is part of the Administrators group which can only be accessed in Safe Mode.

"I can not see to be a administrator to put drivers on to the motherboard what can you do wrong"
A LOT! If the motherboard drivers are installed properly (or the wrong ones installed) you could corrupt your OS beyond repair requiring a reinstallation of the OS. Besides, most drivers there days are "installed" with software, so you would need the rights to install software as well - i.e. an administrator account.

Thanks Michael for the advice, but i disagree with you. The software disk of drivers comes with the motherboard, i have installed several motherboards never had a problem, i think it is because of the 64 bit Edition. Horst

If you are installing the drivers that come on the disk with your motherboard then most likely you are installing out-dated drivers. You should always get the most current drivers from the manufacturer.

The CD that came with your board may not contain the necessary drivers for 64-bit WinXP. Try the board manufacturer's website or download the 64-bit nForce drivers from the nVidia website.

Why are you running 64-bit Windows anyway?
