Hello, I was curious to know if they plan on releasing faster hard drives any time soon. I ask since I plan to get an SATA 3GB drive with 16MB cache and my current HD may be failing since it doesn't always boot and it uses 1.5GB with 8MB cache. I wanted to ask if the new Raptors that are 10,000 RPM going to go 3.0GBs as well or if the HD technology in general is going to improve soon. Thanks.

SATA HDDs are only slightly faster than ATA100 HDDs. The "problem" with current HDDs is that they are mechanical & you can only do so much with spinning platters. Solid State is coming though. Have ya got $2500 burning a hole in your pocket?

Yup, that 3 Gbs (Giga bits) that they post is misleading. First it's giga bits not bytes, and it's actually 300 MBs (Mega Bytes). Drives these days don't even reach 100MBs throughput. That is well below even the PATA interface limitation of 150 MBs.
