HI
I have a HP pavilion 6615 system with 4GB Samsung HDD.
When I try to start the system,a message warning comes like this.
"SMART failure predicted on Hard Disk 0 : Samsung SV0432A....
Warning: Immediately backup your data & replace your HDD, A failure may be imminent.
Press F1 to continue"
But when I take it to the technician, no error message is coming.(he is testing in old system probably Pentium1)
What should I do?
Should I replace the HDD?
Plz suggest......

I would strongly suggest backing up your data. It may or may not fail but that message is not good. Drive failure is imminent.

I had a similar thing happen on a newer HP. I never did back up my data...

I ended up buying and installing a new HD any ways, before anything serious happened. If it is making noise, or anything else is out of the ordinary, you may want to look into it with much more concern. But, like Peter said, it would be wise to at least back up your files and stuff, asap.

Good luck, Red.

I had that same message on my computer when i was using a 30 gig HD that had a few bad sectors on it...but it never failed :-].
I would back up anything important though

Sometimes a defrag will cause the eminent failure symtoms to go away.

The error is not coming on the other computer if the other computer does not have SMART....
