Name: the RAM
Ok, so I am using this software called ActiveSMART to check the integrity of my HDDs.
Upon scanning my drives, it showed that my main 500GB Seagate drive had returned some smart errors.
So I contacted Seagate and got a replacement, this hard drive had the same errors, (I was not surprised, the drive was refurbished)
So they sent me yet another one, which did not show any smart errors. So I cloned the drive, and stuck it where the old one had been.
It works great, (except for the fact that the software showed a bit less drive health) except for the fact that now, this active smart program shows that my 320GB HDD is now in critical condition.
I have to mention the fact that when I turned my computer on after I replaced the drive, the software told me that I have three days left for the trial (are they just trying to get me to buy it?)
So I checked the drive with Seagates' own software, which showed the same drive defects.
What I am wondering, is if any of you know about this active smart software, and if it is generating false smart errors for my other smart checking programs.
Thanks

i am not familiar with that software. Does your BIOS have SMART option in it (many do), is it Enabled?, does that show any errors? BIOS SMART would normally show errors before pc boots into windows.

Check the link below for dependable Smart monitoring Software. Used to be Free, Not sure now.
