Comment:

I recently purchased a computer off the internet. It is a SMAC Data Systems, model 6300T. I have got the power supply, yet, the battery is dead, however, the system shows NO PICTURE on the screen. You can hear the fans running, and the hard drive whirring. How do I fix this. In addition, connection to an External Monitor did not solve the problem.

I suppose first fiddle with the brightness and contrast to make sure it's not something simple like that.

Could the seller have stripped it down? Does it have the cpu and ram? If it was supposed to be working then maybe you need to contact the seller.

It's almost like they're saying it doesn't work with the battery installed, regardless of whether you use the adapter. Try it both with the battery in and out.

The only info I could find about the company is HERE. Whatever happen to SMAC Data Systems after its founder sold it in 2001, no one really knows. I am curious to know how you came about buying this particular computer on the net.

It has everything, and even after trying the brightness and contrast it does not work. The keyboard appears to be irresponsive as well.

Take the battery out, connect the adapter and see if it works. (How do you know the keyboard isn't responding if nothing shows on the screen anyway?)

It has a status screen that is working, and shows NO ICONS when the CAPS button is pressed. I have already tried taking out the battery and it did not work.

If you can get to the cpu and ram you may want to remove and reinstall them, making sure they're in tight. If that doesn't do anything, contact the seller. They may know what's going on since they had it last. Assuming it's a 'working' laptop, I can't think of anything else to suggest.
