I certainly have the slowest machine in the world. Hard drive, memory and video card are the slowest I've ever seen since the Tandy's first hit the market.

I'd like to know if anyone else can assemble a computer with components that make a 8086 seem fast.

I'm doing IE3.03 one line at a time.

Never thought I could get this much junk together all in one package.

Hay Skip, are you a glutton for punishment?:-)

you could at least double the RAM and check bios to see if the caches are enabled.

Of course, for the cost of extra ram you could pick up an old P2 at 4X the speed.

RayMan,

It's just and old machine that was laying dead in the garage. Put it together in order to install DOS 5.0 on another partition.

Cache is enabled and I'm out of compatible ram for this thing; that shouldn't be an issue with WFW and IE3.03 with a cable modem.

Drive (WD 170Mb), memory (EDO from a 166 compaq) and 1Mb video card (Trident TVGA) are all at the slowest end of WinTune 2.0.

I'm still amazed I was able to find the crappiest stuff on the planet and stuff it all in one box.

At one time in the not so distant past that was a cutting edge machine. Makes you appreciate the new stuff now, doesn't it?

After a morning of tweaking and driver changes it's running about like one would expect a P60. Sloooooooooow, but not the slowest on the planet.
