OS: Windows XP
CPU/Ram: 3.2GHZ HT,1GB DDR-400 Dua
Product: DIY

Here are my system specs:
Pentium 4 2.8@3.2Ghz 800Mhz
1GB DDR-400
ATI X1600PRO 512MB
370 GB MAXTOR 7200RPM 16MB All FAT32
SB AUDIGY2

I got very slow pc performance, especially in DirectX/OpenGL based games. Even in old games like Half-life 1,the game was unplayable in 1024X768(5-10FPS). Windows XP was like a crawling snail all the way. Did a spyware scan using Ad-aware and Avast but nothing came out. BIOS Settings was at its maximum. Only two programs were loaded at startup according to HijackThis: Logitech Mouse Application and Keyboard shortcut application. Free RAM at Windows startup: 738MB RAM. Could anyone, please, end my misery and tell me what's slowing down my system to a bloody pulp? Thanks

ASUS P4P800-X
PowerColor X1600 PRO 512MB DDR2 AGP

Maxtor 120GB+250GB 16MB 7200RPM

Sorry to post again, but I MUST disable XP Luna theme and use Classic theme in order to Windows comfortably. Is it because the visual styles is putting a huge strain on my crap hardware??

I believe there is a known problem on logitech mouse driver software
but only affect other i/o devices if bad

It sounds alot like it could be a memory problem or an os problem
as i have been able to fix this way on two seperate occasions
you may be able to speed it up by running utility software
clean up the registry
and combo of defrag
deleting un needed temp files
cleaning out your cache
I have one that I aquired for free after rebate when i bought my tax software and it works fine
I recently cleaned my pc with it and notice a big difference in performance
while you are thinking about that you can reseat your memory and video card to see if it makes a difference
running out of virtual memory can cause pc's to run slow how full it your hdd?

My C: Drive has 6GB out of 10GB. D drive has 90 GB out of 100GB. Drive E has 220GB out of 223GB. I put my Swap file on the fastest hard disk. I believe there is no hardware problem as no blue screens were encountered. I disabled Logitech startup utilities but Windows XP was as slow as ever. And so were 3D games. I don't know.
